A Conversation with the cast & producer of The Last Ship
Join us for a conversation with the cast and producer of The Last Ship: Adam Baldwin, Travis Van Winkle, Chris Parnell, and Steven Kane

This summer, TNT is going to take viewers on an action-packed ride with the exciting new drama series The Last Ship, starring Eric Dane (Grey's Anatomy) and executive-produced by blockbuster filmmaker Michael Bay (Transformers). Based on William Brinkley's popular novel, The Last Ship comes to TNT from Bay's Platinum Dunes and its partners, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form, whose credits include the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Bay, Fuller and Form serve as executive producers, along with showrunner Hank Steinberg (creator of Without a Trace, The Nine) Steven Kane (The Closer) and director Jack Bender (Lost). Steinberg and Kane wrote the series pilot, which was directed by Jonathan Mostow (U-571).

Premiering Sunday, June 22, at 9 p.m. (ET/PT), The Last Ship opens with a global catastrophe that nearly decimates the world's population. Because of its positioning, the Navy destroyer U.S.S. Nathan James avoids falling victim to the devastating tragedy. But now the crew and its captain must confront the reality of their new existence in a world where they may be among the few remaining survivors.

Dane stars as Captain Tom Chandler, a career Navy man who is authoritative and decisive, but also fair and courageous. A born leader and a loving father and husband, Chandler is respected and loved by the men and women under his command. The Last Ship also stars Rhona Mitra (Strike Back) as Rachel Scott, a strong-willed, intelligent and fearless paleomicrobiologist assigned to the Nathan James to investigate the cause of billions of deaths worldwide. Adam Baldwin (Firefly, Chuck) is Slattery, the ship's second-in-command who worries deeply about his family and occasionally clashes with Dane's Captain Chandler over the best course of action. The series also stars Travis Van Winkle (Heart of Dixie), Charles Parnell (Pariah), Christina Elmore (Fruitvale Station), Sam Spruell (Snow White and The Huntsman) and Marissa Neitling (Leverage).

Adam Baldwin - XO Mike Slattery
Adam Baldwin has amassed an impressive and expansive range of film roles totaling over 60, from large studio projects to gritty independents. As a teenager in Chicago, he was chosen from among 4,000 aspiring actors to play the title role of Ricky Linderman in the 1980 feature film, My Bodyguard, starring Matt Dillon. During that same year he caught the attention of Robert Redford and was cast in Ordinary People, opposite Timothy Hutton, Donald Sutherland and Mary Tyler Moore.
Baldwin went on to work with the legendary Stanley Kubrick as Animal Mother in Full Metal Jacket. Throughout the years Baldwin has worked with many of Hollywood's most talented and successful actors and directors, including Robert De Niro in Guilty By Suspicion, Mel Gibson in The Patriot and Kevin Costner in Lawrence Kasden's Wyatt Earp. He also starred in Independence Day and Richard Donner's Radio Flyer, with Lorraine Bracco.
Television has been a great medium for Baldwin, as he has appeared in projects that include HBO's acclaimed miniseries From the Earth to the Moon, executive-produced by Tom Hanks, the telefilms In the Line of Duty: Smoke Jumpers and Francis Ford Coppola's Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde and the series The Cape. He also starred in the series The Inside and Day Break and in 2012 wrapped his fifth and final season as John Casey in the NBC dramedy Chuck. Memorable recurring and guest-star roles include TNT's Leverage, Castle, Bones and CSI: NY.
In the sci-fi world, audiences know Baldwin for his starring role on Firefly, recurring roles on The X-Files, Angel and The Visitor, and guest starring roles on Stargate SG-1 and the new The Outer Limits. He followed up his Firefly character once again in Joss Whedon's motion picture, Serenity.
Baldwin currently resides in Los Angeles.

Travis Van Winkle - Lt. Danny Green
Originally born in California, but making his way to Hollywood via Georgia, Travis Van Winkle came to L.A. when he was 20 and has been working in the business ever since.
On the TV side, Van Winkle's recent credits include 2 Broke Girls, Two and a Half Men, Raising Hope, a recurring role on Happy Endings, a multi-episode arc on 90210. Past roles include Greek, Veronica Mars, Campus Ladies, The OC, Malcolm in the Middle and 7th Heaven.
On the film front, Travis recently shot indie thriller Rites of Passage, opposite Stephen Dorff and Wes Bentley. He can also be seen in a new (and controversial) series of consumer giant Unilever spots shown throughout AMC's run of Mad Men.
Van Winkle recently wrapped the indie thriller Bloodwork opposite Tricia Helfer. His previous film credits include lead roles in Paramount's Friday the 13th reboot; the Fox comedy Meet the Spartans; Asylum, directed by David Ellis; and the independent comedy Last Call, with Ryan Hansen and Christopher Lloyd. Van Winkle also appeared in in the first Transformers movie and had a supporting role in Universal's Accepted.

Charles Parnell - Commander Master Chief (CMC)
Charles Parnell was born in Chicago, where he began flirting with acting at the Piven Theater Workshop in Evanston. After studying with Byrne and Shira Piven, father and sister of Jeremy Piven, Parnell moved to New York and began working in the avant-garde theater scene with such directors as David Herskovitz and Todd Alcott. From there, he began to study with Richard Pinter and Jacklyn Maddux from the Neighborhood Playhouse, followed by two years at the legendary Jean Cocteau Repertory Theater in New York.

After years in regional theater and guest starring in Law & Order, Without A Trace, Third Watch and many other shows, Parnell starred in the off-Broadway play The Overwhelming, which went on to receive rave reviews. Sensing an opportunity, he moved to L.A. and was soon cast in the Starz television series Crash. He has since guest-starred on such series as Bones, Lie to Me, and Fringe, among others, as well as the film Pariah.
Steven Kane - Executive Producer
Steven Kane is a writer-producer whose credits include acclaimed drama series The Closer, Major Crimes, Alias and Without a Trace, as well as comedies American Dad and Curb Your Enthusiasm. He's been nominated for an Edgar Award for mystery writing. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife, daughter, son, two dogs, cat and the occasional goldfish.
